'Parting' to hit Iranian screens soon

The Afghan-Iranian drama ‘Parting’ has been scheduled to go on the silver screen at Iranian cinema theaters.

The 2016 feature film, directed by Navid Mahmoudi, narrates the story of suffering and pain of immigration and homelessness.

‘Parting’ tells the story of two young Afghans in love, Nabi and Fereshteh. Fereshteh leaves the country with her parents to seek refuge in Iran and Nabi is to seek a better life for her love. The love story fluctuates among reaching and separation.

The movie was introduced as the representative of Afghanistan to the 89th edition of the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film; however, it could not make it to the final list of nominees published by the Oscars 2017.

Mahmoudi’s movie went on screen at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea in October 2016 as well as the 21st edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala in India.

The Wisconsin Film Festival and the Portland International Film Festival in the US, the Istanbul Film Festival in Turkey, the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon, the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival in China, and the World Festival of Youth and Students in Russia were among the other world events that screened ‘Parting’.

The film was nominated for the CineVision award at the Munich Film Festival in Germany and won the Best Feature Film awards at the 6th Persian international film festival in Australia as well as the Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon.
